How Cannabis Works (Pharmacology) and What the Body Does with it (Pharmacokinetics)
Over twenty U.S. states and the District of Columbia have laws that allow marijuana to be used for medicinal reasons. It is important for cannabis providers, including budtenders, to understand the characteristics of marijuana and its effect on patients. Dr Laura Borgelt, Assoc. Dean, Skaggs School of Pharmacy, University of Colorado Anschutz, will present a variety of issues in an evidence-based manner related to marijuana including how cannabis works, its various dosage forms, and its effects in the body.
- Review the endocannabinoid system
- Describe the contents in cannabis that effect physiologic mechanisms and potential uses
- Explain pharmacokinetic differences between different cannabis dosage forms
