Biography

Do regulations mean you can’t study cannabis from a clinical perspective? Then approach it from the consumer side.  Carmen Brace founded Aclara Research to bring user centric insights to the cannabis, consumer goods and healthcare industries.

Carmen began studying the cannabis industry in 2015 across numerous medical and adult use cannabis markets. During this time, she realized that while there has been tremendous growth within the cannabis industry, the foundation of patient and consumer research was not established. She developed patient and consumer research panels across the US, and collects valuable insights from cannabis and hemp product users to inform public policy and business strategy with data on the drivers of usage and purchase behavior.

Carmen speaks regularly at industry conferences including the Marijuana Business Conference, Women Grow Chicago, national pharmacist conventions and several medical marijuana conferences in Michigan and Illinois. She has forged partnerships within the cannabis industry
across medical professionals, advocacy groups and business owners to further drive patient and consumer research opportunities. Most recently, she testified as an expert witness for the Illinois State Senate in support of cannabis legalization.

She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Agricultural Economics from The University of Illinois, Urbana – Champaign and The Ohio State University. She splits her time between Chicago, IL and Sarasota, FL.
